PURPOSE: a talk to AHS about my art practice

My Practice is driven by purpose. This article is about my lino block work only.
I have been a practicing artist for over 40 years and recognised as a Master Printmaker for four years. By practicing artist I mean that more than 20 hrs per week, on average, are spent making artwork.

Purpose is referred to in your syllabus as “intentional and informed human activity”. My artwork usually contains more than one purpose but all my artwork can be categorised under the following major purposes. Agent driven; Self driven; and Exhibition driven.
Underlying all of these is the purpose of survival as an artist, so whether you agree or disagree I work as an artist to earn enough to continue working as an artist and the reality is that my main income comes from people that are decorating spaces in their homes.
