2018
Journeys through the landscape was the first focus of 2018 and were exhibited at Benalla Art Gallery in 2018
The second half of 2017 was spent exploring, in my mind and in my journal ideas on recording the significant movements I make through different landscapes
Seven significant journeys were developed.
They became 3 artworks that were all foot printed:
Common Journeys
Spring Journeys
Five Journeys

Common Journeys
Common Journeys depicts the different journeys that take place on the Common in Corowa.
Created by using 2 elimination blocks superimposed over the top of each other.
On the first bock the basis of the landscape is inked up and bare feet carved out; then everything was eliminated except for the footprints of the kangaroo, the ibis, shod human, fox/dog and cows and the images of platypus, fish and turtles.
On the second block the green of the grass and trees was inked up and then everything except the trees and the lines of the dog were eliminated.

Spring Journeys
Spring Journeys depicts the journey I made most days for over 20yrs from Corowa to Albury.
Created with one elimination block and 5 printings.
In Spring the Canola is in full bloom, the black Angus graze on the new grass near the Murray River and the tar road winds its way towards the hills at Splitters Creek. While the vegetated Victorian side of the Murray lays mainly undisturbed and vegetated.

Five Journeys
Five Journeys is all about 5 significant journeys that I make on a regular basis.
Five Journeys#1
Is about the journey by XPT to Sydney. I normally travel by night as I don't like to waste a day and have no trouble sleeping on trains.
Above the line is the train travelling through the landscape that greets me on waking. Below the line is lasting memory of that view with the suggestions of the fact that I am looking out.
The collage background has used rejected original prints of mine that remind me of the landscape and skies at various times of the year

Five Journeys #2
Is about the trip to Canberra in my Subi
Above the line is the Subi travelling through the landscape as I move away from Albury
Below the line is the lasting memory of the trip as viewed from within the car
Again the collage background has used rejected prints that reflect the memories of the skies and land at various times of the year

Five Journeys #3
Is about the trip to Falls Creek, Vic. My favourite trip.
Above the line is my Subi travelling through the uphill section of the journey
Below the line is the lasting memories of the trees in this section and constant climb.
There is no suggestion of being in the car because the view is so over whelming
Again the collage background has used rejected prints that reflect the memories of the skies and land leading into winter

Five Journeys #4
Is about journeys around my local area and represents my love of the hills near Albury and Wodonga, which bring back fond memories of the hills were I grew up.
Above the line is my Subi travelling back from my outing and below represents the both the leaving of the hills behind and the idea that were are more aware of looking through more than one window .

Five Journeys #5
Is about travelling to Melbourne on V-Line and the change from rural to city that occurs very rapidly on this trip.
Above the line is the train heading into the city and below the line is the memories of the tall buildings in the city.
Again the collage background has used rejected prints that reflect the memories of the skies and land above the line, but the prints used below the line are from 1971 and represent the letter T.
I was introduced to Melbourne by my late husband, Terry, and I have always associated it with him. Melbourne was always about his love of Aussie Rules and my source of printing supplies. It was also about our many trips for his medical treatments which often involved our whole family and were treated as a celebration of life and being together.
We got engaged in 1971.
